Flooring Calculator

This flooring cost calculator estimates the square footage and price for your project. We multiply the room length by the width to get the floor area, then add 10% extra to cover cuts, mistakes, and pattern matching — a standard rule of thumb for any flooring install.

The cost estimate multiplies that total square footage by an average material price for the flooring type you select: laminate (~$3/sq ft), hardwood (~$8/sq ft), tile (~$5/sq ft), or carpet (~$2.50/sq ft). These are material-only averages and don't include installation labor or underlayment.

Flooring is usually sold by the box, so round your square footage up to the nearest box size when you order.
