How this calculation works

This baseboard & trim calculator estimates the linear feet of trim you need for a room. We find the room perimeter by adding the length and width and multiplying by two, then subtract about 3 feet per doorway you enter.

We add 10% for waste from miter cuts and offcuts, then estimate how many standard 8-ft sticks you'll need. The cost estimate assumes about $2 per linear foot — premium profiles cost more.

Buy a couple extra sticks for practice cuts and mistakes. Longer rooms benefit from 16-ft lengths to reduce mid-wall seams.
