Drywall Calculator
Find out how many drywall sheets you need.
Enter your room length, width, and wall height to see how many sheets you need.
How this calculation works
This drywall calculator estimates how many sheets you need to finish a room. We find the wall area by adding the length and width, multiplying by two for the perimeter, then by the wall height. Tick the ceiling option to add length × width to the total.
A standard sheet is 4 × 8 feet, or 32 square feet. We add 10% for waste and round up. The cost estimate assumes about $15 per sheet — joint compound, tape, and screws are extra.
For tall rooms, 4 × 12 sheets reduce seams but are heavier to handle. Don't subtract small doors and windows — the extra material covers waste from cuts.
