How this calculation works
This plywood sheet calculator estimates how many 4 × 8 sheets you need to cover a surface — a subfloor, wall sheathing, or roof deck. We multiply length by width for the area and add 10% for waste from cuts and offcuts.
A standard sheet covers 32 square feet. We divide your area by that and round up. The cost estimate assumes about $45 per sheet, which varies by thickness and grade.
For surfaces with lots of angles or openings, bump waste up to 15%. Buying full sheets and cutting on-site is usually cheaper than pre-cut panels.
